Troop 622 Backpack Inspection List

The following items should be included in your backpack for all non-backpacking campouts and backpack inspections. Each scout must pass an anual backpack inspection to qualify for the canoe trip and all backpacking trips.

Camping/Backpacking Items

50 ft of 1/8” Nylon line
Backpack with bellyband
Backpack cover
Candle & Matches (waterproof)
Chapstick & Sunscreen
Comb (or brush)
Compass & Whistle (plastic)
Emergency Change (two quarters)
First Aid Kit (personal with moleskin)
Flashlight (with spare batteries & bulb)
Ground cloth
Insect Repellent
Kleenex (pocket pack)
Mattress (ThermaRest –type or foam pad)
Mirror (Metal or Plastic)
Paper/Pen or Pencil
Paper plates & Utensils (fork & spoon)

Frisbee
Pocket knife (& Toten Chip)
Scout handbook
Sewing kit (with Safety pins)
Sierra Cup
Sleeping bag (to +15 degrees)
Soap (or Camp Suds)
Tooth brush & tooth paste
Towel
Trash bags (two 30 gallon)
Watch
Water bottles (two 1 liter)

Clothing Items

Scout Shirt*
Scout Belt*
Troop or Scout Hat*
Troop (or scout) T-shirts (two)
Underwear (two pair)
Shoes (extra pair)
Stocking Cap
Rain Gear
Troop Jacket or Windbreaker
Sweatshirt
Long pants
Socks (two pair white/ one heavy wool)
Long Sleeve shirt

Seasonal Items

Gloves (Oct – Mar)
Long Johns (Oct – Mar)
Heavy Jacket (winter)
Shorts (Apr – Sep)

Optional Items

Hiking boots
Swimsuit
Sunglasses
Wick-dry socks
Shade Hat

The troop recommends that all clothing items be packed in plastic bags.
* Travel Uniform  -To be worn to and from Campouts.
