The following items should be included in your backpack for all non-backpacking campouts and backpack inspections. Each scout must pass an anual backpack inspection to qualify for the canoe trip and all backpacking trips.
Camping/Backpacking Items
- 50 ft of 1/8” Nylon line
- Backpack with bellyband
- Backpack cover
- Candle & Matches (waterproof)
- Chapstick & Sunscreen
- Comb (or brush)
- Compass & Whistle (plastic)
- Emergency Change (two quarters)
- First Aid Kit (personal with moleskin)
- Flashlight (with spare batteries & bulb)
- Ground cloth
- Insect Repellent
- Kleenex (pocket pack)
- Mattress (ThermaRest –type or foam pad)
- Mirror (Metal or Plastic)
- Paper/Pen or Pencil
- Paper plates & Utensils (fork & spoon)
- Frisbee
- Pocket knife (& Toten Chip)
- Scout handbook
- Sewing kit (with Safety pins)
- Sierra Cup
- Sleeping bag (to +15 degrees)
- Soap (or Camp Suds)
- Tooth brush & tooth paste

- Trash bags (two 30 gallon)

- Water bottles (two 1 liter)

The troop recommends that all clothing items be packed in plastic bags.
