Instructor's Ledger

(WebMaster invites the Troop Instructors, or any Scout or Scouter that has interest, to contribute content to this page)

The Instructor's Ledger

The Instructor teaches skills to advancing Scouts within the troop.

Duties of the Instructor include:
  • Teaches basic Scouting skills.
  • Schedule/coordinate merit badge counselor(s) for troop/Scout instruction.
  • Set a good example.
  • Enthusiastically and correctly wears the Scout uniform (all four parts).
  • Lives by the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Shows Scout spirit.

An instructor is proficient in Scouting skills, and has the ability to teach skills to others. These often include first aid, camping, and backpacking—the same skills that are required for rank advancement, and for outdoor activities.  A large troop often has more than one instructor.
